LETHBRIDGE, AB – Snow routes are in effect in Lethbridge and the City would like to remind residents of some important details.

Officials stated that vehicles parked in snow routes can hinder the snow removal process. The City noted that if a vehicle is parked along a snow route, plow drivers are required to slow their plow and avoid the parked vehicle, which lessens the effectiveness of the plowing.

Juliane Ruck, Transportation Operations Manager for the City said, “We don’t want to damage people’s cars, so we have to kind of be very diligent, slow down, and it really slows down all of our operations.”

She continued, “When we have the snow routes in place, it is to ask people to remove their cars so that we can operate.”

Once snow routes are activated, vehicles left in parking lanes along the routes can be subject to a ticket. This measure remains in effect until snow routes are deactivated. Snow routes are marked by a blue snowflake tab above snow route parking signs.
