Horizon schools to remain closed Monday

TABER, AB – Parents and students are advised that all schools within the Horizon School Division will remain closed on Monday, January 15, 2024.

The Division closed its schools on Friday due to the extreme cold weather and said that will happen again on Monday.

According to the Horizon School Division website, it consists of 20 schools in Barnwell, Enchant, Grassy Lake, Hays, Lomond, Milk River, Taber, Vauxhall, and Warner, plus two Christian Alternative Schools and three Outreach schools.

Additionally, there are 19 Hutterian Brethren schools scattered throughout the Division as well as one elite sport academy (Vauxhall Academy of Baseball).

An extreme cold warning remains in effect for all of Alberta. Although temperatures are expected to moderate somewhat on Monday, wind chill values in the morning could still reach -43 degrees Celsius.
