LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) has charged a 36-year-old man in connection with a downtown break and enter.

On January 16, 2024, police responded to a report of a break-in at Leather Unlimited along the 300 block of 5 Street South. The owner of the business said the security grill gate had been removed and a window was broken.

Inside the business, property had been rummaged through and a safe that contained an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.

Patrol officers and members of the Property Crimes Unit were able to obtain surveillance footage, and identified a suspicious vehicle and person.

Police located the vehicle parked at a motel in south Lethbridge where the suspect had rented a room. He was arrested without incident and police say they recovered most of the cash from the safe.

Lance Lloyd Trapp of Picture Butte is charged with shop-breaking and commit theft. He is currently in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
