MOOSE JAW, SK – The Lethbridge Hurricanes lost 6-3 to the Moose Jaw Warriors on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

The game started off promising for the Hurricanes. Following a delay of game penalty on Moose Jaw defenceman Lucas Brenton, Miguel Marques scored his 18th goal of the season on the powerplay to take a 1-0 lead. Logan Wormald and Noah Chadwick added assists on the goal.

Marques’ goal was the only one on the scoresheet for the first period. In the second, Sean Tschigerl scored his first goal with the Hurricanes just under five minutes into the frame. Fellow new Hurricane Dylan Sydor added the assist.

However, things soured for the Hurricanes after that, and the Warriors added two goals in a minute and a half to tie the game heading into the third period.

In the third the Warriors continued their momentum, scoring four goals to give them six unanswered and a 6-2 lead. Sydor cut the lead in half with just under four minutes left to go, but the Hurricanes could not mount the comeback, losing 6-3.

With the loss, the Hurricanes drop back-to-back games and fall to a record of 20-18-3. They currently occupy fourth place in the Central Division.

They will look to get back in the win column on Friday, January 19 when they take on the Regina Pats.
