Province reports five overdose deaths in Lethbridge in November 2023

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta has released new numbers for November 2023 in its substance use surveillance system.

In Lethbridge that month, five people died from drug overdoses, two less than the seven reported for October 2023. That brings the total number of reported overdose deaths in the city in that time to 115.

The total number has considerably passed the entirely of 2022, which, at the time, represented a new record for the most fatal drug overdoses in Lethbridge at 77.

Provincially, 138 people died due to drug overdoses in Alberta in November, bringing the total from January to November up to 1,706. Of the reported overdose deaths, 68.7 per cent are male, and the highest number of cases are those aged 35 to 39.
