Seven Kodiaks receive ACAC honours

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Six athletes and a coach at Lethbridge College have received end of season honours from the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC).

Basketball

Four basketball players and a basketball coach have been recognized for their efforts in the 2023-24 season.

On the women’s side, Hannah Helton was selected to the ACAC All-Conference South first team. Helton finished the season second in the whole ACAC with 386 points scored, with an average of 18.4 points per game.

Courtney Deemter was named to the ACAC All-Conference South second team for her performance. Deemter led the team with 11.3 steals per game, while putting up the exact same points per game average.

The Kodiaks’ women’s basketball team’s head coach Ken McMurray was named the ACAC South Division Coach of the Year after leading the Kodiaks to an 18-3 record, good for first place in the South Division. This year marked the second time McMurray has won the award.

On the men’s team, they also received two awards.

Filip Karanovic led the Kodiaks in points scored, and was named to the All-Conference South first team. His 20.0 points per game placed him eighth in the ACAC.

Mason Hoffman was named to the All- Conference South second team. Despite fighting an injury in the second half of the season, he put up 329 points and averaged 19.4 points per game.

Volleyball

Kodiaks middle blocker Kohlbe Anderson has been named the ACAC South Division’s Rookie of the Year. Anderson finished the 2023-24 season with 109 kills, along with 28 blocks and eight service aces.

Nolan Moes was named to the ACAC All-Conference South team. Moes put up 319 kills and 32 total blocks. His 319 kills was the second most in the entire ACAC, while his 32 blocks ranked 11th.

The ACAC awards were chosen by conference coaches for the 2023-24 All-Conference Teams.
