FlixBus expands into Alberta, routes spanning Lethbridge-Edmonton

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A new inter-city bus service has launched in Alberta.

FlixBus, a partner brand of Greyhound in the United States, will operate stations in Lethbridge, Fort Macleod, Claresholm, Okotoks-Aldershyde, Calgary, Red Deer, and Edmonton.

Flix North America CEO Kai Boysan says he is thrilled to bring their services to the area and provide customers with a new way of travelling throughout Alberta.

“Our goal is to make long-distance travel affordable, comfortable, and sustainable for everyone. With our extensive network and modern buses, we are confident that we can meet the needs of travelers in Alberta. We are grateful to our partner Universal for enabling this expansion to Alberta to occur,” says Boysan.

The company says its network allows customers to reach 2,300 destinations across North America.

FlixBus also operates in B.C., Ontario, and Quebec.

Its expansion to Alberta comes after Greyhound completely shut down all of its services in western Canada in 2018.

Tickets can be booked at greyhound.com or flixbus.ca, or through those companies’ mobile apps.

Busses will run between Lethbridge and Calgary, with stops in Fort Macleod, Claresholm, and Okotoks, Thursdays-Mondays.

For its introductory period, FlixBus is offering one-way tickets from Lethbridge to Calgary for just 99 cents. Later this year, scheduled trips range in price from $24.99 to $27.99.
