MARLENE EVELYN BOSCH (née Arthur), beloved wife of the late Bert Bosch, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the age of 89 years.
Marlene was a devoted and loving mother to Gregory (Lisa) Bosch, Debra Bosch-Friedrick and Clark (Amber) Bosch. Also left to mourn her passing are her cherished grandchildren, Aaron (Michelle), Jordan (Kaley), Kyle (Ashly) and Graeme (Chelsie) Bosch, Lauren (Chip) Ammons, Kristi (Norm) and Ryan (Jill) Bosch-Friedrick, Keaton and Kacie Bosch, Madison (Matt) and Noah (Courtney) Romard, 11 great-grandchildren, her beloved sisters, Shirley Bartsoff, Margaret Faye Ripley and Gail (Laurance) Jones, extended family and treasured friends.
Marlene was predeceased by her husband, Bert Bosch, parents Marie and James Arthur, sister Jean Gergel, and son-in-law, Norm Friedrick.
Marlene was born on November 19, 1934, and grew up on a farm near Iron Springs, AB with her parents and four sisters. She attended Huntsville School until grade 10 and then was bussed to Picture Butte High School. After high school Marlene graduated from Garbutt’s Business College in Lethbridge. Her first job was at Smith Motors. Marlene worked as a bookkeeper for many years retiring from Brown, Okamura & Associates Ltd. in 1994.
Marlene loved to dance and met Bert at the Trianon Ballroom in Lethbridge in 1954. They were married on December 16, 1955 and had 63 wonderful years together.
In addition to dancing, Marlene loved bowling, travelling, watching curling and the Blue Jays on TV and proudly followed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their endeavors. Marlene bowled in a 5-pin ladies league for years and just retired from bowling at the age of 88. She won Bowler-of-the-Year in 1973 with the season high game of 448 and posting a high triple of 951. Marlene secured many more bowling accolades over the years including individual and team awards. Marlene travelled extensively with Bert including trips to Europe, Hawaii, Alaska, Disneyland, Arizona and the Kentucky Derby. They were also regulars on the seniors’ bus trips to casinos in Calgary and Edmonton.
A Celebration of Marlene’s Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825-32 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta on Wednesday, May 29th, 2024, at 1:00 P.M.
