Word on the Street Reaches Out to Passionate Readers and Writers
LETHBRIDGE – The sixth annual Word on the Street Festival is set to welcome 35 authors and performers to Lethbridge on Saturday (September 24)!
This year, the outdoor festival opens up six stages for live readings, talks and fan meet ups. There are also plenty of activities and ten food trucks for young children and adults to enjoy.
Word on the Street runs from 11-am to 5-pm in the parking lot and surrounding street at the Public Library’s Main Branch.
Elisabeth Hegerat, Executive Director for the festival, says the author of Birdie, Tracey Lindberg, and writer of the children’s series Grumpy Bird, Jeremy Tankard, are among some of the biggest highlights.
She says the free festival is also an opportunity to pick up a new skill, with a number of panels and workshops for aspiring online writers, musicians and authors. Hegerat added that attendees should also watch for the scavenger hunt and the Society of Friends of the Lethbridge Public Library book and DVD sale.
Admission is free, and a full schedule of events is available at thewordonthestreet.ca.
