CALGARY, AB – The Calgary Stampede has announced who will lead this summer’s parade.

Owen Crow Shoe will serve as parade marshal, having made a name for himself in Hollywood.

He started his career by working as a stunt rider on The Revenant, later appearing in three episodes of Tin Star. Crow Show is currently filming the movie Dream and is set to appear alongside Kevin Costner this summer in Horizon: An American Saga.

However, Crow Shoe says he is most excited to be part of the Calgary Stampede, an event he has loved for his entire life.

“I am proud to say my family has been part of this event since 1985 and I am honoured to continue that tradition leading the Parade and opening The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth,” says Crow Shoe. “I’m fortunate to have made so many memories and life-long friendships at the Calgary Stampede and I look forward to making so many more along the Parade route this year.”

He has been involved in several Stampedes over the years, including singing and drumming in the Elbow River Camp, and participating in the Warrior Ride during the Stampede Rodeo Grand Entry.

In addition to leading the parade, Crow Show will also serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the 2024 Calgary Stampede Powwow. That takes place on July 7 and 8 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Stampede Board of Directors Chair Will Osler says Crow Shoe is a great ambassador for Alberta, Canada, and the Calgary Stampede.

“His commitment to celebrating and sharing his culture, both on and off the screen, is inspiring. He is a role model for many around the world and we couldn’t be more proud to have him lead the Parade as Marshal,” says Olser.

The Stampede parade is set to feature more than 100 entries, comprised over over 400 four-legged and nearly 5,000 two-legged participants.

More details on the Calgary Stampede are on their website.
