Arson charges laid after fire destroys Cardston home

CARDSTON, AB – One person has been charged following a house fire in Cardston.

The RCMP says it occurred early in the morning on June 9.

The home was completely destroyed.

Following the initial investigation, RCMP officers located an underaged suspect at the Cardston Hospital.

The youth was charged with arson and mischief and was taken into custody.

The courts have released the suspect, who is scheduled to appear at a later date.

Due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the suspect cannot be released.
