One-bedroom apartments in Lethbridge now average $1,402/month

The general rate of inflation for June 2024, reports Statistics Canada, was 2.7 per cent.

Although Lethbridge remains one of the more affordable cities on the list, prices here rose by far more than the national average of 5.9 per cent, which was the slowest rate of growth over the last 2.5 years.

Rent across Canada averaged $2,201 per month between all sizes of apartments and condos.

For all of Alberta, that number was $1,810 per month, increasing by 15 per cent from July 2023.

Rental prices for other communities in the province, with their place on the national ranking out of 35, are as follows:

Calgary (17)
- One bedroom: $1,751 per month, up 1.9 per cent annually
- Two bedrooms: $2,157 per month, up 1.7 per cent annually
Edmonton (30)
- One bedroom: $1,389 per month, up 16 per cent annually
- Two bedrooms: $1,716 per month, up 12 per cent annually
Fort McMurray (34)
- One bedroom: $1,249 per month, up 9.4 per cent annually
- Two bedrooms: $1,426 per month, up 2.5 per cent annually

Vancouver, which remains the most expensive city in Canada for rent, is seeing prices go down. A one-bedroom unit there rents for $2,761 per month (-8.4 per cent) and places with two bedrooms go for $3,666 (-6.4 per cent).
