Rob Miyashiro to run for NDP nomination in Lethbridge-West by-election

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Rob Miyashiro will officially run for a nomination for the Alberta NDP in the Lethbridge West by-election.

Miyashiro announced officially on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 that he will run for the office left vacant after Shannon Phillips stepped down on July 1.

Phillips was at the official announcement, and she gave her endorsement to Miyashiro.

Miyashiro, who is the Executive Director of the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization (LSCO), has political experience in both Lethbridge, and with running for the NDP.

He served on Lethbridge City Council from 2013 until 2021, and following his tenure, he ran in the 2023 provincial election for the NDP in the Lethbridge-East riding, ultimately falling to the UCP’s Nathan Neudorf.

Miyashiro spoke on his priorities in running for the Lethbridge-West riding.

Nomination day is September 7, at which time the voting will conclude and the candidate will be announced.
