Lethbridge police charge woman with aggravated assault

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A Lethbridge woman has been charged in relation to an assault.

On Saturday, August 10, 2024 just before 9 p.m., police responded to a report of an assault in the area of 500 block of Stafford Drive South.

Police say a 32-year-old woman and a group of friends were socializing, when a verbal confrontation broke out. They say the argument escalated to a physical confrontation that resulted in a female striking the victim in the face with a hatchet.

The victim went to a nearby business for help, and EMS transported her to the hospital. Police located the suspect shortly after, and she was arrested without incident.

Tara Many Shots, 37, is charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. She was remanded into custody and will appear in court on Monday, August 12.
