One person killed in semi-truck rollover near Nanton

NANTON, AB – The RCMP is responding to a fatal collision in southern Alberta.

The police service says it was dispatched to a section of Highway 2 just north of Nanton around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.

A semi-truck carrying ammonium nitrate rolled over.

The driver of the truck, an unidentified 31-year-old man, was pronounced deceased on scene.

Emergency crews remain at the site of the incident and are working to clear the area.

The cause of the rollover has not been stated by the RCMP.

As of 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday, 511.Alberta.ca states that the section of Highway 2 is still closed.
