Lethbridge man charged with arson in northside fire investigation

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service has charged a man with arson in connection to a northside fire.

On August 9, just after 11 p.m., police and Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services (LFES) responded to a residential structure fire along the 1600 block of 3 Avenue North.

When crews arrived on scene, they found the the rear garage of the residence was completely engulfed in flames. Police say the fire spread to the home, causing extensive damage that LFES estimated at around $500,000.

Police interviewed multiple witnesses, and it was determined the fire was set intentionally. They then arrested a suspect on August 13.

Ryan Lloyd Gerard, 26, of Lethbridge, is charged with arson to property. He will appear in court on August 16.
