Harvest season begins in Alberta
Harvest season is underway in Alberta.
This year continues to be a challenging time for Alberta farmers due to drought, late spring rains and hot days. However, despite those challenges, the province says that yields are in line with historical averages.
Drivers on the highways are asked to be cautious with harvest season underway, as more combines and farming equipment will be sharing the road with them this time of year. Drivers are asked to give the equipment extra space.
RJ Sigurdson, Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation said, “Fall is one of the busiest times of year for farmers and harvest means long days in the fields. Thank you to our province’s dedicated farmers and ranchers who work tirelessly to put food on tables here at home and around the globe.”
