COALHURST, AB – A new dog park is coming to Coalhurst.

At their meeting on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, council approved the development of a new fenced off-leash dog park in the northeast portion of the town, near 55th Avenue and Range Road 223.

Council said that an off-leash park was one of the most requested amenities from residents when they were polled about what to add to the Wetlands area development.

Up to $160,000 has been approved for the building of the park, which will come from the Wetlands Enhancement budget. The park will include double-gated entrances, an area specified for smaller dogs, a six-foot chain link fence dog waste bag stations and garbage cans, and a gravel pathway within the park.
