LETHBRIDGE, AB – The RCMP and Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) have arrested a man in connection to a series of fraudulent purchases involving tires.

They say six businesses in southern Alberta received phone or online orders for BF Goodrich K02 275/60/R20 tires.

In each instance, police say eight-to-12 tires would be purchased and a man would pick them up the next day in a U-Haul van. However, the credit card purchases were allegedly fraudulent.

A total of 150 tires were recovered from two storage lockers following a series of searches on August 22, 2024.

Shawn Robineault, 42, of Montreal, has been arrested and faces the following charges:

  • Fraud Over $5,000
  • Fraud Under $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Identity Fraud
  • Identity Theft
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Robineault remains in custody and made his first appearance in court in Calgary on Monday.

The RCMP is looking for victims in this case of fraud. Any tire resellers in southern Alberta who sold more than 8 BF Goodrich K02 tires in the month of August 2024 is asked to phone their local RCMP detachment and reference case number 2024-1219077.
