LETHBRIDGE, AB – UPDATE (Fri, Sept. 13): The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) has charged a man with attempted murder in this case.

UPDATE (Thur, Sept. 12): The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) says it has arrested a man who allegedly committed a break-in and assault.

The suspect and victim are reportedly unknown to each other.

The name of the suspect was not provided.

Original Story

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) is asking for your help in locating a suspect who is wanted in connection to a violent incident.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, police were called to a home on the 200 block of Mayor Magrath Drive North.

A woman reported that an unknown man had broken into her home and attacked her while she was asleep using some kind of weapon, then fled through a window.

She was taken by EMS to Chinook Regional Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

Search efforts so far have been unsuccessful.

LPS says the incident appears to be random in nature.

Any homeowners in the area who have video surveillance cameras are asked to check their footage between midnight and 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday for any activity.

As well, those who might have been driving through the area at the time are asked to look at their dashcam footage.
