Cirque Italia bringing 1950’s spectacle to Lethbridge

“This little girl, her mom is trying to put her to sleep. I come out from the TV and I show her around. You see a lot of rock-and-roll, we have 17 live performers,” says Acero.

The show also features jugglers, bunjees, throwing axes, a trampoline act and the “wheels of destiny.”

He says Cirque Italia has three unique stages that cost $500,000 each. The others are in Las Vegas and Dubai.

What makes the stage unique is its water system. Acero explains that 17 computers are programmed to shoot water and lights across the venue in interesting ways.

“We don’t get wet, a lot of people ask if we get wet. Also, the audience doesn’t get wet.”

Acero has been with Cirque Italia for the last eight years. They have run the Water Circus: Gold Unit show for the last three years.

He says his favourite part of performing is seeing the look of awe in the audience’s eyes.
