CALGARY, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes’ bid for an undefeated season is officially over.

They fell 3-1 to the Calgary Hitmen on Sunday, September 30, 2024 at the Scotiabank Saturday.

The game marked the return to the crease for Hurricanes’ goaltender Harrison Meneghin, who was attending training camp with the Tampa Bay Lightning after being drafted in July.

In the first, the Hitmen outshot the Hurricanes 17-4, and got goals from Ben Kindel and Carson Wetsch, with the latter holding up as the game winner.

After a scoreless second period, the Hitmen made it 3-0 in the third with a goal from Oliver Tulk at 5:55. Kindel and Wetsch both added assists.

The Hurricanes would break the scoreless tie after a slashing penalty to Maxim Muranov, when Leo Braillard scored his third of the season, assisted by Brayden Edwards and Logan Wormald. However, the comeback attempt stopped there as Hitmen goalie Ethan Buenaventura made 10 saves in the period.

The Hurricanes will look to rebound on Friday, October 4, 2024 with a game against the Moose Jaw Warriors at home.
