WestJet announces service, schedule changes at Lethbridge Airport

Oct 3, 2024 | 3:25 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – WestJet is making a change to its operations at the Lethbridge Airport.

On Thursday, October 3, 2024, WestJet officially announced that the Lethbridge Airport will change from offering the WestJet LINK service to WestJet Encore.

With the change, the planes that fly from Lethbridge to Calgary will also be changed. Encore uses the Q400 NextGen planes, which will provide an increase in capacity from 34 passengers to 78.

However, WestJet also announced that the number of flights out of Lethbridge will be reduced from three to one.

Jared Mikoch-Gerke, Director of Alliances and Airport Affairs with WestJet says despite there being less flights, they will be able to offer a more affordable service.

Despite the reduction in departing flights from three to one, Lethbridge Airport Manager Cameron Prince says there will be no layoffs for staff at the airport.

Prince continued, saying that other operations based out of the Lethbridge Airport including flight schools and medivac services, will continue to operate despite some schedule changes.

The changes in schedule are set to officially take effect on October 27, 2024.
