The 19th Annual National Depression Screening Day will take place on October 10.

Put on by Counselling Alberta and Calgary Counselling Centre, this initiative was started as a way to make mental health resources available for all.

In a news release, the CEO of the Calgary Counselling Centre and Counselling Alberta, Dr. Robbie Babins-Wagner said “The goal is to reduce barriers and encourage people to take the first step in prioritizing their mental well-being. The NDSD quiz gives people a quick and easy way to check in on their mental health and take the first step towards feeling better.”

As part of this initiative, from October 7 to the 13, Albertans can visit areyoufeelingok.com and take the free, brief online quiz to assess their mental well-being.

As part of the screening, more resources and recommendations for additional support will become available after you complete the quiz.

According to Counselling Alberta and the Calgary Counselling Centre, depression is one of the most common mental health concerns worldwide, as one in four people experience it during their life.

However, experts say it is highly treatable, and early intervention can significantly improve treatment outcomes.
