Clean Energy program now available to homeowners in Taber

TABER, AB – Homeowners in Taber can now apply for the Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP).

The town announced on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 that the applications are now available for residential property owners.

With CEIP, residents can make energy-efficient home improvements such as installing solar panels, upgrading insulation, replacing windows, and more. The town says the upgrades are more accessible and budget-friendly, as the program provides financing that is repaid through the homeowner’s property taxes.

Blake Hranac, Facilities and Energy Manager for the Town of Taber says, “This program is a great opportunity for homeowners to reduce energy consumption and lower their utility costs. By offering a simple and flexible way to finance improvements at a low interest rate and long repayment terms, we hope to see many residents take advantage of this initiative.”

Residents who are interested can submit a pre-qualification form here to confirm their eligibility. They will then follow an EnerGuide Home evaluation which will help identify the most effective energy-efficient or renewable energy upgrades for the home.

In addition to financing, Taber’s CEIP offers a rebate of $400 for all completed CEIP projects. An additional $500 is available for projects that finance a Solar PV upgrade, but the rebates are limited and will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.
