TABER, AB – Following a successful event in neighbouring Coaldale, Taber will play host to a major sporting competition next year.

The Town of Taber will host the 2025 Southern Alberta Summer Games (SASG), taking place in the community from July 2-5, 2025.

Southern Alberta Recreation Association Chair Kaylee Ostenberg says, since returning from COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, each event has been a great success.

“We are extremely excited about the Town of Taber hosting the 2025 Southern Alberta Summer Games. Based on the feedback received last year from both new and returning athletes, we are confident that this year will also be exceptional,” says Ostenberg.

The SASG will feature a variety of individual and team sporting events in and around Taber. Officials expect nearly 2,000 athletes and coaches will be taking part.

Coaldale hosted the 2024 SASG and Coordinator Mark McIntosh says everything went off without a hitch.

He told LNN that the Games provided great high-level competition for athletes, fun spectator events for families, and noted that many businesses had an increase in sales.
