Two charged in Pincher Creek break and enter investigation

UPDATE, June 3, 2026:

Two Pincher Creek residents have been sentenced following a break-and-enter investigation.

Courtney Michelle Periard, 39, was given an 18-month conditional sentence order and 10-year firearm prohibition on Sept. 5, 2025, after being convicted on one count of housebreaking/commit theft. Three other counts were withdrawn.

Meantime, co-accused, Craig Joseph Peterson, 36, was previously sentenced to three years in jail and a lifetime firearm prohibition on May 1, 2025. Peterson plead guilty to counts of housebreaking/commit theft, break and enter with intent to steal firearm, possess prohibited/restricted firearm, unauthorized possession of prohibited weapon, and possess prohibited firearm. Thirteen other charges were withdrawn.

It was on Nov. 7, 2024, when Pincher Creek RCMP received a complaint of a break and enter at a rural residence. The victim told police that a safe with several firearms and various other items was stolen from their property.

Police said their investigation determined the victim was targeted through a construction contractor who had hired known criminals, and they soon executed a search warrant that recovered one firearm and other items.

Two Pincher Creek residents were charged in relation to the incident.

BACKGROUNDER

Two Pincher Creek residents are facing multiple charges in a break-and-enter investigation.

On November 7, 2024, Pincher Creek RCMP received a complaint of a break and enter at a rural residence. The victim told police that a safe with several firearms and various other items was stolen from their property.

Police determined that the victim was targeted through a construction contractor who had hired known criminals, and they soon executed a search warrant that recovered one firearm and other items.

Two Pincher Creek residents have been charged in relation to the break and enter, along with numerous other criminal offences.

Craig Peterson, 34, has been charged with 18 criminal offences, including:

  • Break and Enter to Steal Firearms
  • Wearing a Disguise
  • Various firearms offences
  • Failing to comply with a Firearms Prohibition Order

Courtney Periard, 37, has been charged with 5 criminal offences, including:

  • Break and Enter to Steal Firearms
  • Wearing a Disguise

Both are scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Pincher Creek on December 5.
