LETHBRIDGE, AB – As the calendar turns to December, there are plenty of events in the Lethbridge area this week. Lethbridge News Now has all the details.

Winter Light Festival – November 29 – February 28, 2025

The Winter Light Festival is back at the Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden for 2024. The festival began last Friday, and will run until the end of February 2025. This year’s lights feature the celebration of the four seasons:

  • Haru (Spring)
  • Natsu (Summer)
  • Aki (Fall)
  • Fuyu (Winter)

The festival also features other special events like performances and Horse and Wagon rides. A full list of information is at the Nikka Yuko website.

Lethbridge Hurricanes vs. Moose Jaw Warriors – December 3, 2024

The Lethbridge Hurricanes return to the VisitLethbridge.com Arena on Tuesday after a five-game road trip. The team is looking to course correct, having lost six straight games heading into the matchup. Puck drop is at 7:00, and tickets can be found here.

Beginner Salsa Dance – December 3, 2024

The Multicultural Centre in Lethbridge is hosting two more beginner Salsa Dance lessons this year, with the first of them on Tuesday night. The classes are led by an experienced instructor, and will teach the participants fundamental salsa steps, footwork, and partner connections. Information on how to register is here.

Save Our CPP Town Hall – December 4, 2024

Public Interest Alberta is holding a town hall on Wednesday regarding whether Alberta will stay with the Canada Pension Plan. The town hall will educate those who attend about what a potential CPP exit would mean for residents, and it will be held at the Multicultural Centre from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00.

Pro-amateur Comedy Night – Every Wednesday

Pro-Amateur Night runs every Wednesday at the Good Times Lethbridge Comedy Club downtown. Come see the best local comics or try out comedy yourself. The hosts of the event rotate every week, and it begins at 7:00.

Glow Lethbridge – November 22-December 31, 2024

Glow Lethbridge is back at the Agri-food Hub & Trade Centre this year, with new attractions to see. 2024 marks a new theme for Glow Lethbridge called Santa’s Sleigh Adventure. In it, Santa’s sleigh has crashed, and he investigates a variety of other travel options while rounding up his reindeer.

Wednesday will see the first themed night of the festival called Glow Without Limits, a sensory-friendly experience. More information is at the event’s website.

Lethbridge Hurricanes vs. Medicine Hat Tigers – December 6, 2024

Following their game against Moose Jaw on Tuesday, the Lethbridge Hurricanes will be in action again on Friday night, facing off against their rival Medicine Hat Tigers. Aside from the Highway 3 rivalry, the game is also the annual Teddy Bear Toss game at the arena, where over 3,700 teddys were thrown on the ice last season. Puck drop is at 7:00.

Christmas With Johnny Reid – December 7, 2024

Catch JUNO Award winner and multi-platinum selling recording artist Johnny Reid live on stage at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena on Saturday. The concert is a celebration of holiday spirit, and begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here.

Glow Skate – December 7, 2024

An all-ages public skate with music and a light show is taking place on the outdoor skating rink at Civic Plaza in Coaldale on Saturday night. Santa Claus will be there to hand out candy canes, pose for photos, and chat by the fire pits. There will also be wagon rides and hot chocolate served. The event is free to attend, and runs from 5:30 until 8:00.

Coaldale Copperheads vs. Airdrie Thunder – December 7, 2024

The Coaldale Copperheads are in action on Saturday night to face off against the Airdrie Thunder at the Coaldale Sportsplex. The Copperheads are currently fifth in the Southern Division, while Airdrie occupies third place in the Northern Division. Puck drop is at 8:00.
