LETHBRIDGE, AB – A year-long enforcement project by the Lethbridge Police Service has led to the arrest of over 300 people.

The project began in March of 2024 with members of the Downtown Policing Unit, Crime Suppression Team, Property Crimes Unit, High Risk Offenders Unit and Community Peace Officers working collaboratively to actively target high frequency offenders, areas with high volumes of crime and other negative behaviours downtown.

Between March and December 11, Police executed 442 outstanding warrants, 304 people were arrested for open drug use, and 2,054 doses of methamphetamine and fentanyl were removed from the street.

In addition, police recovered six stolen vehicles, seized numerous weapons, and documented 403 positive interactions with business owners and members of the public.

Seeing the success of the initiative in 2024, LPS is aiming to conduct similar initiatives in 2025. They have also announced that four additional officers will be added to the Downtown Policing Unit in January, bringing the team to include six Constables and a Sergeant.
