LETHBRIDGE, AB – The City of Lethbridge and its’ sister city are offering an exchange program again in 2025.

Saint-Laurent, Quebec is the official twin city of Lethbridge after a twinning arrangement as part of the 1967 Canadian Centennial project.

In the partnership, which is aimed at promoting cultural and social relationships between Eastern and Western Canada, there are annual exchanges, which alternate between sending students and senior citizens.

This year, the two municipalities will be hosting an exchange for seniors aged 55+ by June 1, 2025.

The exchange will begin with the Saint-Laurent delegation traveling to Lethbridge from July 3-10, followed by the Lethbridge delegation travelling to Saint-Laurent from August 6–13.

Over the course of the trips, those taking part will engage in activities to get to know each other and learn about their region. Participants in one group will be twinned with members of the other, and they will stay at each others homes.

Expenses for the trip such as airplane tickets, public transportation, and meals during group excursions, will be covered by the municipalities.

The City of Lethbridge says in order to be eligible, you must be:

  • A resident of Lethbridge
  • 55+ years of age, as of June 1, 2025.
  • Able to participate in scheduled activities that may involve walking in excess of 5 kms per day
  • Willing to represent yourself as an Ambassador for the City of Lethbridge
  • Any other residents in your home over the age of 18 must be able to pass the required criminal background check.
