City of Lethbridge recognizing International Girls and Women in Sports Day with activities at YMCA

Feb 5, 2025 | 1:53 PM

The City of Lethbridge is recognizing International Girls and Women in Sports Day with a night of sports on February 5, 2025.

Female youths in Lethbridge are invited to join off-duty female first responders for an evening of free sports, activities and mentorship with Off the Record: StrongHER Together.

It is being held in recognition of the day, which celebrates the accomplishments of female athletes, role models and leaders who are breaking barriers in sports.

Constable Brooklyn Peterson said, “This is a night for girls in our community to join some of our local female heroes and embrace their passion for sport. StrongHER Together provides a safe and casual environment for girls to be themselves, support one another and have fun.”

The 90 minute session will be hosted at the Cor Van Raay YMCA from 6-7:30 p.m. and is free to attend for female youth ages 10-17.

The event is part of the ongoing Off the Record initiative, which began in 2024 through the Building Safer Communities program. It functions as a way for youths in Lethbridge to create the personal relationships with LPS officers through sport.

Registration is required and can be completed here until 3 p.m.
