City of Lethbridge looking for volunteers for ESS Team

Feb 11, 2025 | 12:51 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge residents are invited to join the City of Lethbridge’s Emergency Social Services (ESS) team.

ESS works to make sure that individuals and families impacted by crises receive short-term support to regain stability as quickly as possible.

As part of recruitment and training efforts, monthly lunchtime training sessions are being held to highlight how the program operates in emergencies.

Jamie Anderson, Emergency Planning Administrator with the City of Lethbridge said “ESS volunteers are an essential part of our community’s response to emergencies. This program is about bringing people together, using their unique skills and helping our neighbours when they need it most.”

The program offers certifications, hands-on training and networking opportunities with local emergency response teams so the participants are trained to respond to various scenarios.

The next training opportunity will feature representatives from the Alberta Emergency Management Agency, and will take place on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at City Hall’s Culver Room beginning at noon.

More information can be found on the City’s website.
