Jun 9, 2025 | 1:16 PM

Lethbridge residents can expect a BBQ and crafts at the upcoming Interfaith Learning Garden this Friday, June 13.

It’s part of Garden Days, Canada’s celebration of National Garden Day which is held annually on the Friday before Father’s Day.

Visit Interfaith Learning Garden from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. for a FREE BBQ, Garden tours and kid’s crafts. Participate for free, with donations gratefully accepted for Interfaith Food Bank. Handmade goods will also be available for sale at the Helpful Hobbies Pop Up Market during the event.

Communities in Bloom’s Theme of the Year is Edible Gardens. Organizers say growing your own food is a powerful way to support sustainability, enhance local ecosystems, and build stronger connections within our communities.

They say it also provides a meaningful response to the challenges of food insecurity.

“This year, let’s focus on creating edible landscapes that nourish both people and the environment,” reads a statement from Communities in Bloom. “Together, we’ll plant the seeds for a greener, healthier future!”

The Interfaith Learning Garden was established to provide the community with opportunities to learn about enhancing food security by growing a garden, and to promote active and healthy lifestyles. The garden now also includes an Indigenous Healing Garden, where traditional plants are grown for food, medicine and ceremony.

Throughout the gardening season, community members can participate in tours, workshops and other garden related activities.
