Piikani Nation announces council by-election

Anyone who is thinking of running for council in the Piikani Nation will have just over one week to get nominated.

This comes after Martin Iron Shirt resigned from council at the end of December 2024.

The First Nation will hold the nomination meeting to replace him on Thursday, June 26, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Community Hall in Brocket.

Once the candidates have been finalized, the campaign will last just under one month before the by-election on July 22. There will be no opportunities for advance voting.
