Over 1,000 medals awarded at Southern Alberta Summer Games in Taber

The Southern Alberta Summer Games (SASG) hosted in Taber wrapped up on Saturday.

Athletes of varying ages competed in a variety of sports over four days, representing their communities

Thirteen different municipalities were represented at the event, with 1,049 medals handed out.

Host M.D. of Taber stood atop the podium with 251 medals, including 110 gold.

Athletes from Lethbridge won the most gold medals at 124, bringing the city’s total medal count to 244.

Rounding out the top five communities for medals were Lethbridge County (111), while the M.D. of Willow Creek and County of Newell were tied at 101.

Other competing municipalities included the County of Forty Mile, Cypress County, Medicine Hat, Vulcan County, M.D. of Pincher Creek, Cardston County, County of Warner, and Municipality of Crowsnest Pass.

In a social media post, SASG mascot Gusty said that the passion, hard work, and leadership of their volunteers brought each competition to life.

“To the Town of Taber, thank you for hosting such an unforgettable 2025 Southern Alberta Summer Games. And of course, an extra special thank you to our amazing Games Coordinator, Keira, for keeping everything running smoothly, and Richelle, our Summer Games Assistant, for your hard work and dedication. The success of this event is a true reflection of your efforts!”

The 2026 SASG are set to take place in the County of Forty Mile.
