‘Fecal matter’ prompts water quality advisory at Enchant Pond
Residents of Southern Alberta are asked not to swim in the Enchant Park Pond.
Alberta Health Services (AHS) has issued a water quality advisory for the water body, saying there are currently “elevated levels of fecal bacteria.”
“At current levels, gastrointestinal illness may result from ingestion of the water at Enchant Municipal Park Pond. As well, there is the possibility of skin, ear and eye infections with water contact,” reads the advisory from AHS.
The public is reminded to never drink or cook with untreated water directly from any lake or reservoir, at any time. Health officials say waterborne organisms, including fecal bacteria, can cause vomiting and diarrhea.
