Twelve Alberta casinos part of 24-hour liquor license pilot

Jul 22, 2025 | 2:25 PM

A new Alberta Gaming Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) pilot project has extended serving hours to match those of gaming operations at twelve Alberta casinos.

As of July 1, a dozen casinos began this 24-hour liquor license pilot:

  • PURE Casino Calgary
  • Deerfoot Inn & Casino Calgary
  • Ace Casino Blackfoot Calgary
  • Ace Casinos Airport Calgary
  • Grey Eagle Casino Calgary area
  • PURE Casino Lethbridge
  • Cash Casino Red Deer
  • River Cree Edmonton area
  • PURE Casino Edmonton
  • PURE Casino Yellowhead Edmonton
  • Great Northern Casino Grande Prairie
  • Rivers Casino Fort McMurray

AGLC says this is a six-month trial and comes with a number of conditions, including not allowing discounts during extended hours and limiting service to areas which include gaming activities.

With this project, some casinos that are open 24 hours, such as the River Cree, will be able to offer 24-hour liquor service. However, this won’t change the hours of operation for other casinos; it will only extend serving hours.
