Deadline approaching for St. Mary River Irrigation District scholarship applications

Only a few days remain for post-secondary students in a region of southern Alberta to apply for funding.

The St. Mary River Irrigation District says Sunday, August 31, 2025, will be the final day to apply for its annual scholarship.

It awards up to 15 students with $2,000 each.

Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:

• are ratepaying irrigators within the District
• are children of ratepaying irrigators within the District
• are a spouse of a ratepaying irrigator within the District
• have a parent or spouse employed by ratepaying irrigators within the District
• are a student or a spouse of an employee of the District
• were themselves employed by the District in the summer preceding the year for which the scholarship was applied
• are enrolled in an agriculture-related diploma, certificate or degree program

Students must also be in their second year or higher at a recognized university, college, or technical institute, or entering into an internship/co-operative work term.
