LPS lays charges in high-risk incident

The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) has apprehended a woman in what it calls a high-risk incident.

Officers were called to the 100 block of Sundial Court West around noon on Wednesday, September 10.

They say a woman armed with a knife was attempting to gain entry to a unit in a suited residence, and had broken the glass in a door.

She is said to be an occupant of the other unit, then barricaded herself inside the home. LPS claims that she did not respond to police demands to exit.

Neighbours were directed to shelter in place.

Several hours later, the suspect surrendered to police and was taken into custody without incident.

Katie Jane Scory, 26, of Lethbridge, is charged with attempted housebreaking, possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public, and resisting a peace officer.

She has been released from custody.
