RCMP investigating fatal collision near Claresholm

One person is dead following a collision in southern Alberta.

Claresholm RCMP says it was called to the intersection of Highways 2 and 527 at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16.

The collision involved a 2020 Kia Stinger and a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu.

The northbound lane of Highway 22 was closed for a period of time.

A 40-year-old man, who was driving the Chevrolet, was declared deceased on scene. His passenger had serious injuries but is recovering.

The two occupants of the Kia were uninjured.

Officers say they are still investigating the cause of the collision.
