The Lethbridge Hurricanes went 1-and-1 in their first weekend of the 2025-26 regular season.

The Canes first welcomed the Calgary Hitmen to the VisitLethbridge.com Arena on Friday, Sept. 19, and lost 5-3.

Calgary dominated the first period with two straight goals.

Lethbridge evened things up in the second as Hudson Kibblewhite scored twice.

The first was on a power play and involved assists from Easton Deneault and Luke Cozens. The second was a short-handed goal, thanks to an assist from Chase Petersen.

Calgary scored another two times in the third period before Carson Olsen hit the net for the Hurricanes, as Will Scott and Shane Smith helped to get him out.

The Hitmen had one final goal with just 21 seconds remaining.

The Canes secured a 4-0 shutout win in Saturday’s rematch at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The contest included a pair of goals each from Shane Smith and Luke Cozens.

Up next, the Hurricanes will host the Saskatoon Blades in Lethbridge on Friday, Sept. 26.
