Fall leaf collection now underway in Lethbridge

Oct 1, 2025 | 12:25 PM

The City of Lethbridge is making it easier for residents to get rid of their fallen leaves.

It has launched its annual Fall Leaf Collection Program.

From Oct. 1 to Nov 7, 2025, people can contact 311 to arrange for a free pick-up for their leaves.

Collections will take place between Oct. 7 and Nov. 14.

To prepare for your collection:

  • Leaves must be put into paper yard waste bags so they can be composted together.
  • Place bagged leaves in the same spot your waste collection cart is normally collected. (If your collection spot is in your front yard, place them where your property meets the sidewalk and not on the street)
  • Ensure there aren’t any waste collection carts or other obstacles within 1.5 metres (3 feet) of your bagged leaves.
  • Have your bags out 24 hours ahead of your pick-up date.
  • Ensure that the leaves are in paper yard waste bags.

There is no limit on the number of bags which may be set out for collection, but each bag must not exceed a weight limit of 10 kg (25 lbs). Residents can request up to two collections.

Alternatively, leaves can be mulched, composted, placed in the green cart or dropped off at any of the City’s yard waste and recycling depots, which are open until November 16.

Curbside green carts will be picked up weekly before switching to biweekly collection in early November.
