Ryan Parker running for re-election on Lethbridge City Council

Oct 2, 2025 | 6:00 AM

Lethbridge’s longest-tenured member of city council is asking for another four years.

Ryan Parker has announced his candidacy in the 2025 municipal elections, set for October 8-20.

He provided the following answers to an LNN questionnaire:

Why did you want to run for Lethbridge City Council?

I’m running for re-election because I still have the passion and drive to serve our community, and I believe my experience and knowledge can help move Lethbridge forward. The encouragement I’ve received from friends, family, and residents inspired me to continue. While my core values haven’t changed since I was first elected, my perspective has grown—especially as a parent—which gives me a deeper understanding of what families and all residents need to thrive in our city.

What personal or professional experience do you have that you feel would make you a good city councillor?

As an incumbent, I bring proven experience serving on City Council and participating in a range of boards and commissions. This has given me a strong understanding of how decisions impact our community, how to navigate complex issues, and how to collaborate effectively with residents, businesses, and organizations. My background ensures that I can continue to deliver informed, balanced, and responsible leadership for the people of our city.

What would be a few of your top priorities if elected?

As your councillor, I will continue to focus on the issues that matter most to our community, in no specific order:

  • Public Safety & Well-Being – Strengthening policing and community supports to keep our neighbourhoods safe and welcoming.
  • Infrastructure & Growth – Investing in roads, utilities, and long-term planning to support a growing city.
  • Housing & Homelessness – Expanding affordable housing and shelter options so everyone has a safe place to call home.
  • Downtown Revitalization – Supporting redevelopment and public space improvements to make downtown a vibrant destination.
  • Fiscal Responsibility & Engagement – Managing taxpayer dollars wisely while listening to residents and putting community voices first.
