U of L to host Canada West Swimming Championships

Some of the best swimmers in Western Canada will be in Lethbridge later this year.

The University of Lethbridge (U of L) has announced that it will host the 2025 Canada West Swimming Championships from November 28-30.

Collegiate swimmers will battle for conference titles and qualifying times towards the U SPORTS National Championships.

Spencer Pommells, Director of Athletics at the U of L, says it will showcase some of the top university swimmers.

“This event is a tremendous opportunity for our community to experience the excitement of high-level university swimming and for our student-athletes to compete in front of a supportive home crowd. We’re especially grateful to our presenting sponsors, Team Aquatic Supplies and Commercial Aquatic Supplies, for helping make this championship possible,” says Pommells.

The Canada West Swimming Championships will be held in the Max Bell Aquatic Centre.

The full schedule of events is as follows:

Friday, November 28

  • 4:00–5:00pm – Preliminary Heats: 50m Butterfly, 50m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke, 800m Freestyle
  • 5:30–7:30pm – Finals: 800m Freestyle, 1500m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly, 50m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke, 4x200m Freestyle Relay

Saturday, November 29

  • 10:00am–12:00pm – Preliminary Heats: 50m Freestyle, 400m IM, 100m Butterfly, 200m Backstroke, 100m Breaststroke, 200m Freestyle
  • 5:00–7:30pm – Finals: 50m Freestyle, 400m IM, 100m Butterfly, 200m Backstroke, 100m Breaststroke, 200m Freestyle, 4x100m Freestyle Relay

Sunday, November 30

  • 9:00–11:00am – Preliminary Heats: 200m Butterfly, 100m Freestyle, 200m IM, 100m Backstroke, 200m Breaststroke, 400m Freestyle
  • 3:00–5:00pm – Finals: 200m Butterfly, 100m Freestyle, 200m IM, 100m Backstroke, 200m Breaststroke, 400m Freestyle, 4x100m Medley Relay
