SOUTHERN ALBERTA – It’s the post-season in the Southern Alberta High School Football League and following a raucous first weekend several must-see matchups are now on the schedule.

In Tier I, it’s a rivalry game between the Raymond Comets and the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Rams on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. at the University of Lethbridge stadium. This is a re-match from last year when the Comets had home field advantage, but it was the Rams moving on with a 31-10 victory.

The Catholic Central Cougars defeated the Chinook Coyotes 36-0 in the Tier II league final this past weekend.

With the win, the Cougars advanced to the Regional Final against the Rangeland representative, the Medicine Hat High Mohawks, to decide who gets the birth in Provincials. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Medicine Hat Methanex Bowl on Friday, Nov. 2.

In Tier III, it was the Cardston Cougars advancing following a 42-0 win over the Winston Churchill Bulldogs.

Due to there not being a playoff with the Rangeland Rep for a Region 1 championship, Cardston has advanced to provincials as the 1B draw for Region 1. Rangeland representative Brooks will be the 1A draw.

Finally, the Willow Creek Cobras hammered the Pincher Creek Mustangs 56-7 in Claresholm on Friday night in the Tier IV semifinal.

With the win, the Cobras are off to the Tier IV Regional Final which is on Friday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. in Taber against the top-seed W.R. Myers Rebels. There are no Rangeland Tier IV teams, which means the winner of this game will be 1A in the provincial draw, while the loser will be 1B.

Provincials in the Alberta Schools Athletic Association run between Nov. 23 and 24 in Fort McMurray, and the full provincial playoff bracket by Tier can be found here
