Lethbridge YMCA offers Lifeguard Certification Scholarships

The Lethbridge YMCA is offering two full scholarships to cover the cost of lifeguard certification courses, valued at $1,800 each.

The program is open to youth and young adults aged 16 and older as of Jan. 1, 2026.

Recipients will gain full access to courses including Intermediate First Aid, Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross, Lifesaving and Swim Instructor, and National Lifeguard Pool/Waterpark certification.

“Becoming a lifeguard is a pathway to leadership and community impact,” said Arnaud Sparks, education manager at the YMCA of Lethbridge.

“Through these scholarships, we’re helping individuals gain the skills, confidence, and certification they need to create safer spaces and stronger connections in our community.”

Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025.

Scholarship recipients are set to be notified by Dec. 20, and all courses must be completed in 2026.
