City of Lethbridge seeking youth groups for Christmas Tree Collection

Nov 14, 2025 | 9:39 AM

If you are part of a youth group in Lethbridge, you can help the city clean up Christmas trees once the holidays are over.

The City of Lethbridge is searching for a youth group that can lead this year’s Christmas Tree Collection Program.

It will see an organization that can provide at least 70 young volunteers to collect trees from all participating single-family homes in Lethbridge. It involves:

  • A one-day blitz across Lethbridge to collect trees on January 10, 2026. The entire city must be checked, and trees must be collected and counted on this date.
  • A smaller sweep of the city for missed collections on January 17, 2026. This collection is for a small number of trees (typically 30-40 trees) and also must be completed by the volunteer youth group. The City will record the addresses of those trees and forward them to the group prior to the date.

Interested youth groups will have until December 1, 2025, to submit their proposal.

The chosen group will receive a $10,000 honorarium for a successful program.

Families who wish to have their trees collected are asked to leave their trees in the same place as where their curbside waste carts get picked up no later than 7:00 a.m. on collection day.

Anyone whose tree did not get picked up on the Jan. 10 collection date should contact 311.

More information on the Christmas Tree Collection Program for both volunteering groups and residents can be found on Lethbridge.ca
