Oh Southern Alberta – blue sky to cloud shroud in 5 minutes

Mar 31, 2018 | 10:01 AM

CARDSTON –  If you’re a Southern Albertan, you’ve probably heard the oft-quoted phrase “If you don’t like the weather, just wait a minute”. We’re accustomed to seeing rapid changes in weather around this region.

OK – granted, most Southern Albertans don’t like the weather we’re dealing with right now and we’d like it if Old Man Winter and Mother Nature would stop the hissy fit, but you still have to be in awe of the forces at work.

While it sometimes takes longer than a minute for weather to transition, the short duration in change is not an exaggeration.

Just outside of Cardston, Shayna Olsen caught this dramatic footage of fog and a dark cloud bank that rolled in on Good Friday (Mar 30) morning. She recorded this near Leavitt (just east of Cardston) at 10:30-am and tells LethbridgeNewsNow.com that the time lapse was just five minutes.
