Salvation Army surpasses $220,000 Christmas Kettle goal in Lethbridge

Dec 24, 2025 | 1:07 PM

The Salvation Army in Lethbridge has announced the successful conclusion of its 2025 Christmas Kettle Campaign.

Thanks to the faithful support of local donors, volunteers, and corporate partners, officials say the campaign has surpassed its fundraising goal of $220,000.

Despite a challenging economic year where many households faced their own financial pressures, the organization says residents of Lethbridge demonstrated remarkable generosity.

To date, the campaign has raised a total of $237,998.83, ensuring that The Salvation Army can continue its vital work in the community throughout 2026.

“We know that this has been a difficult year for many in our city, which makes this achievement even more meaningful,” says Lieutenant Zach Marshall, Community Ministries Officer, in a press release Wednesday. “We put out a call for help, and Lethbridge answered. This successful campaign is a testament to the compassion of our community.”

“It guarantees that when a neighbour needs community supports, we will have the resources to be there for them,” adds Marshall.

Keeping It Local

As emphasized at the campaign launch in November, The Salvation Army says every dollar donated to the kettles stays in Lethbridge. Surpassing the $220,000 goal is described as critical for maintaining local operations, particularly as The Salvation Army continues to see rising demand from seniors and first-time users of their Drop-In Support services.

Officials say the funds raised will immediately go to work supporting:

• Community Programming: Ensuring no one experiences loneliness.

• Family Services: Providing clothing, household items, and emergency assistance.

• Pathway of Hope: Long-term case management to help families break the cycle of poverty.

A Community Effort

The Salvation Army extends sincere thanks to the hundreds of volunteers who filled thousands of shifts at kettle locations across the city. Officials say gratitude is also expressed to their corporate partners—including Walmart Canada, Costco, and Loblaw Companies Limited—who provided the space for this essential fundraising to take place.

“Our volunteers and donors are the backbone of this organization,” states Lt. Marshall. “Because you gave, we can give. It is a privilege to serve a city that takes such good care of its own.”

Year-End Giving Opportunities

While the red kettles are being stored away for another year, officials say the work continues. Residents who wish to make a year-end contribution to support The Salvation Army’s winter relief efforts can still receive a 2025 charitable tax receipt for donations made by Dec. 31, 2025.

Donations can be made online at lethbridgesalvationarmy.ca/give, or by mail or in-person at 1302 4 Avenue S., Lethbridge.
