The RCMP says two people, including one of its officers in southern Alberta, are facing fraud-related charges.

In May 2024, the Alberta RCMP Serious Crimes Branch was informed of a possible fraud being committed by a serving officer and his wife against Piikani Resource Development Ltd.

After an extensive investigation, Cst. Grant Shade, 42, and Katrina Shade, 40, both residents of Pincher Creek, were charged with fraud over $5,000 and theft over $5,000.

According to the RCMP, Katrina was an employee of Piikani Resource Development Ltd. at the time of the alleged incident.

Grant is also charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Both of the accused are scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Macleod on February 18, 2026.

Cst. Shade has been with the RCMP since 2021 and is currently suspended with pay.

As this matter is now before the courts, the RCMP says it will not provide any further comments.
